What is a Hollywood Smile?

Hollywood smile, synonymous with aesthetic smile design, is a cosmetic dentistry procedure that aims to restore an aesthetic appearance to the smile by covering the teeth with dental crowns, veneers, or laminates and performing other necessary treatments. A Hollywood smile helps the patient achieve whiter teeth and a flawless smile that resembles that of hollywood celebrities.

Why is a Hollywood Smile performed?

A Hollywood smile is performed to create an aesthetically pleasant smile and is performed to:

  • Create a smile that is symmetrical and ideal for the patient’s face.
  • Restore chipped or broken teeth as well as to close the gaps between the teeth.

What are the things to be considered before Hollywood Smile?

The patient’s health history is taken, and it, along with additional information that may be requested, is examined to create a treatment plan for the patient. After the patient arrives in Turkey a thorough dental examination is made. The cosmetic dentist informs the patient regarding what kind of treatment will be necessary. A hollywood smile is composed of various procedures, the treatments covered by aesthetic smile design are as follows:

  • Gum contouring
  • Dental implant treatment
  • Zirconium, metal fused porcelain or e-max crowns or laminate veneers
  • Necessary additional orthodontic treatments.

How is the Hollywood Smile performed?

Before any dental prosthetics are inserted, the necessary orthodontic treatments are performed. Patients will usually need 2 to 3 visits to the dentist to have the dental crowns or dental laminates inserted. The first appointment involves the teeth that will receive the dental crown or dental laminates being filed down across the top and the sides, making space for the prosthetics. The amount of tooth that gets filed away depends on the type of prosthetic to be inserted. In some cases a root canal treatment might need to be administered if the teeth have an elevated risk of infection or suffer from tooth decay. After the teeth are filed down, necessary measurements are taken for the dental crowns or laminates to be produced. The second visit starts by an acidic gel being applied to the teeth and then the dental laminates or dental crowns being bonded to the teeth through the acidic gel. In some cases an additional visit might be required to check and make mild adjustments to the dental laminates.

Additionally, If required gum contouring and teeth whitening are performed.

Dental crowns and dental laminates usually last 5 to 15 years, while teeth whitening lasts up to 3 years.

What are the things to be considered after getting a Hollywood smile?

Patients are recommended to diligently follow their cosmetic dentist’s instructions, which includes taking provided prescription medicine. The patients should also take care to avoid hard or sticky foods, as well as chewing gum, for at least the first 24 hours after the procedure. The patients are also recommended to brush their teeth gently for a week after the procedure. After the recovery period, the patients should keep good dental hygiene and avoid putting excess pressure on the teeth, through grinding or using teeth to open packaging for example. Otherwise the expected lifespan of the dental crowns, dental laminates or teeth whitening might decrease.

What are the risks of Dental Crowns?

Potential risks of a Hollywood smile is just the combination of the risks of procedures that it includes. For dental crowns or dental laminates the risks are:

  • Discomfort or excessive sensitivity to changes in temperature.
  • The dental crown chipping, getting loose, or dropping off.
  • An allergic reaction to the material that the dental crown is made up of.
  • Gingivitis or other gum diseases.

The main risk of Teeth Whitening is that the bleaching liquid might cause additional sensitivity of the gums and in some cases even burn the gums. Additionally consumption of certain foods might increase the risk of staining.

From the word go with my coordinator David he helped with everything and anything even the question that must people would think are silly but he took the time to explain everything properly and that made me feel at ease, he helped me get everything booked and I paid my deposit, 4 months later I was on the way Optimed hospital for my gastric sleeve with Dr Ali Tardu, on arrival at the hospital we was welcomed by a very happy to see us translator that got us all booked into the hospital and shown to our room, most test were completed that night and then we got some sleep ready for the next day for the op.. op went amazing and the after care from the nurses and surgeon and staff is amazing, they go above and beyond for you making sure your always ok not in any pain and comfortable at all times.. The duty of care has been 100% by the surgeon, care team & the translators, especially Bill who has gone above and beyond to make sure we have had the best stay in yasam. He really is the best and couldn't do enough ensure our stay was positive, and comfortable. Steve & Akin have attended to our needs tirelessly daily, along with all the other care colleagues and given the best care ever. The meals were not always good, but did have several options, although if you're English the combination of variety didn't always go together Protein is a big factor for recovery by the hospital, but the catering team need room for improvement based on protein meal choices. The cleaners cater to you're needs aswell not just to keeping your rooms clean and fresh bedding, they help in any other ways they can. I recommend yasam hospital for surgery and care, the team give 100% in everything they do Thank you floor 2 you've been absolutely amazing . ❤️

The interpreters were amazing, couldn’t be more helpful, especially Bill who went above & beyond to accommodate us & our quirky ways. The nurses & care assistants couldn’t be more attentive & patient, and worked tirelessly to give round the clock care, especially Steve & Akin. The surgeon Dr Fatih was thorough in his examination & aftercare, I can’t thank everyone enough, and feel confident about the surgery I have had at Yasam hospital. There is room for improvements with meals, & could be better coordination in line with aftercare meal suggestions for recovery. Though you do get 3 meals a day & there is an area to get a drink or sweet snack.
