As the average life expectancy increased a demand for looking younger has surfaced. Aesthetic plastic surgery has become popular and, breast augmentation, rhinoplasty, and liposuction, in that order, are the most common aesthetic plastic surgeries.
Plastic surgery, like the petrochemical substance of plastic, gets the name from the Greek word plastikos, which translates to the verbs molding and shaping. As plastic surgeons often perform reconstructive surgeries and reshape body parts the specialty is referred to as plastic surgery.
Cosmetic surgery includes surgical procedures intended to enhance the appearance, whether by adjusting the proportions of the face or body, augmenting certain features, or improving symmetry. Cosmetic procedures are elective, meaning that patients decide to undergo these procedures on areas of the body that do not require an improvement in function.
Every plastic surgery, other than botox and fillers, are permanent. Breast implants have an expected lifespan of up to 10 years and need to be replaced, but are still considered permanent.
